Program Overview

The Chief Minister Tourism Fellowship Program aims to provide a unique chance to the state's youth to collaborate with the government on tourism strategy, management, implementation, and monitoring. Under the program, the selected researchers will be trained in the overall development of the state's tourism, culture, and ecology, the concurrent evaluation of the schemes implemented by the Central/State Government, and the preparation of the outline for the state's fairs and festivals. The proposal is to choose researchers so that competent and passionate researchers can participate in the state's tourist development goals and initiatives. The fellowship program will select researchers working in associated subjects such as tourism, culture, history, and the surrounding atmosphere. The selected researchers would operate under the supervision of the District Magistrate, Divisional Commissioner, and Tourism Department official.

Objectives of Chief Minister Tourism Fellowship Program

Following are the major objectives of the Chief Minister Tourism Fellowship Program:
  • The primary goal of the Chief Minister Tourism Fellowship Program is to give the researchers from Uttar Pradesh an opportunity for observation, monitoring, ecological and holistic development, evaluation of the schemes run by state and central government.
  • To give an opportunity to researchers to structure, prepare an outline for organising fair and festivals, and enhance revenue in the area of tourism with scope for an equal participation in the development of policies for tourism in view of the needs of future.
  • To give researchers a chance to participate in the process of organising fair and festivals. The selected researchers will also study the best practice of various states and countries in the area of tourism and provide suggestions in terms their implementation to the department.

Remuneration

Under the Chief Minister Tourism Fellowship Program, the selected researcher will be paid Rs. 30,000 as remuneration and Rs. 10,000 only for field visit per month. A tablet will also be provided to the researcher and accommodation will be arranged by the researcher himself.

Period of engagement and annual performance appraisal

The affiliation period of the selected researcher under the Chief Minister Tourism Fellowship Program will be valid for one year from the date of joining. The affiliation period can be extended for one year on the basis of excellent work done in view of usefulness and need in the tourism sector. Apart from remuneration and field visit, no other payment will be allowed. Under the program, a certificate will be given by the department for the work done successfully by the researcher within the prescribed period.


Roles and Responsibilities

Under the Chief Minister Tourism Fellowship Program, selected researchers will be selected for the designated districts, and will have the following responsibilities

  • 1. During the program period, the researchers will work under the supervision of the District Magistrate, Divisional Commissioner and respective tourism officials.
  • 2. Researcher will conduct a concurrent evaluation of all the schemes implemented by the tourist places/tourism department of the districts, work related to organizing fairs, festivals and programs will be done in coordination with the Secretary, District Tourism and Culture Council and Tourism Department officials.
  • 3. The researcher will provide extensive support on matters related to the compilation of data of pilgrims visiting the state, domestic/foreign tourists and resolution of complaints made by tourists.
  • 4. The researcher will provide suggestions on challenges being faced in the execution of the tourism policies and provide suggestion for increasing the arrival of tourists in the state.
  • 5. The researchers will also support the department of tourism and culture in the work related to policy formulation, implementation and organizing fairs, festivals and programs related to tourism in the state.
  • 6. The researchers will also have the responsibility of collecting real-time data and conduct analysis for will enhancing the revenue in the area of tourism in the state.

Other important conditions

  • Chief Minister Tourism Fellowship Program is a full-time program. Therefore, the selected researchers will not be allowed to take up any other employment, assignment or other full-time study/work during the period of the fellowship program.
  • The Fellowship Program does not assure permanent service/employment after completion of the tenure.
  • The office timings for each selected researcher will be the same as for other employees of that office.
  • The researcher may be required to work for additional hours and travel as required.
  • The research scholar will bring a medical fitness certificate at the time of joining the fellowship program. After the selection of the researcher, police verification of the character of the researcher will be done.
  • During the period of fellowship, the researcher will have to stay at his/her place of affiliation.
  • The researcher must present the contribution to the concerned office within 30 working days of receiving the proposal letter otherwise the selection will be cancelled.
  • The scholar will not be allowed to participate in any political movement during the period of fellowship.
  • During deployment at the district/division level, the researcher will have to visit the area for survey, observation, evaluation and preparation of proposals for tourism schemes.

Management

The implementation and management of the fellowship program will be done by the Tourism Department. Hotel Management, Food Technology and Applied Nutrition Institute, Honourable Kanshi Ram Institute of Tourism Management, Lucknow, and Food Craft Institute, Aligarh will be instrumental in the selection process of the researchers.
